How Psychiatric Medication Management Works
Initial Psychiatric Evaluation (60-90 minutes)
Your first appointment is a comprehensive assessment where Danielle will:
- Review your complete mental health history, medical background, and current symptoms
- Discuss previous treatments, medications tried, and what worked or didn’t work
- Screen for co-occurring conditions (e.g., ADHD with anxiety, depression with trauma)
- Develop a personalized medication plan aligned with your goals
- Explain medication options, expected timelines, and potential side effects
- Coordinate with your therapist (if applicable) for integrated care
Cost: $250 (self-pay) or insurance copay/deductible applies
Follow-Up Medication Management (15-25 minutes)
Ongoing appointments typically occur every 4-12 weeks depending on your medication regimen and stability. These visits focus on:
- Monitoring medication effectiveness and side effects
- Adjusting dosages based on your response
- Lab work coordination when needed
- Addressing new symptoms or life stressors affecting your treatment
- Refill management and prior authorization assistance
Cost: $125 (self-pay) or insurance copay/deductible applies
Medication Management + Therapy (45-50 minutes)
For patients who want both medication oversight and therapeutic support in a single session. This combined approach allows Danielle to:
- Address medication adjustments alongside ongoing therapeutic goals
- Provide talk therapy techniques to complement your medication plan
- Monitor progress holistically, treating the full picture rather than symptoms alone
- Reduce the need for separate provider appointments
Cost: $200 (self-pay) or insurance copay/deductible applies

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to see a psychiatric nurse practitioner in Pennsylvania?
No. Pennsylvania does not require referrals for psychiatric services. You can schedule directly with Danielle Wysokinski whether you’re currently in therapy at our practice, seeing a therapist elsewhere, or not in therapy at all.
Can I see Danielle for medication management if I'm already seeing a therapist at Dr. John G Kuna & Associates?
Yes. Many patients benefit from combined care—weekly or biweekly therapy sessions with one of our licensed therapists, plus monthly or quarterly psychiatric medication management with Danielle. We coordinate care internally to ensure your treatment team is aligned.
Can I see Danielle for medication management if I have a therapist outside your practice?
Absolutely. We regularly collaborate with outside therapists, counselors, and psychologists throughout Pennsylvania. With your signed consent, we’ll communicate with your therapist to provide integrated care.
What if I only need medication management and don't want therapy?
That’s completely fine. Many patients see Danielle for psychiatric medication only—no therapy required. Medication management appointments focus solely on your prescriptions, symptoms, and medication adjustments.
Does Danielle prescribe controlled substances for ADHD or anxiety?
Yes. As an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider and board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, Danielle is licensed to prescribe stimulant medications (Adderall, Vyvanse, Ritalin, Concerta) for ADHD and benzodiazepines when clinically appropriate for anxiety disorders. All controlled substance prescriptions follow Pennsylvania and DEA regulations, including monitoring agreements and periodic drug screening when indicated.
Can Danielle treat my child's ADHD or anxiety?
Yes. Danielle treats children as young as age 4 for ADHD, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, and trauma-related conditions. Pediatric psychiatric care includes parent education, school coordination (with your consent), and evidence-based medication protocols designed for developing brains.
What happens if I need a higher level of care (like hospitalization or intensive outpatient treatment)?
If your symptoms worsen or you experience a psychiatric crisis, Danielle will coordinate with appropriate crisis resources, including:
- Geisinger Behavioral Health Crisis Line: (570) 271-6768
- Pennsylvania Crisis Text Line: Text “PA” to 741741
- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988
- Local psychiatric emergency departments and intensive outpatient programs (IOP)
Your safety is our priority, and we’ll help connect you to the right level of care while maintaining continuity when you’re stable.
How long do I need to stay on psychiatric medication?
This is highly individual. Some patients use medication short-term (6-12 months) during a difficult life period, while others benefit from long-term or indefinite treatment for chronic conditions like major depression, bipolar disorder, or ADHD. Danielle will discuss your treatment goals at every appointment and support you if you decide to taper or discontinue medication under medical supervision.
