    Walter Dunn

Walter is a licensed social worker and certified alcohol and drug counselor who specializes in guiding individuals through recovery from substance use and most mental health disorders. With a compassionate, empowering approach, Walter helps clients build the skills and insight needed to manage their disorders and create fulfilling lives in recovery.
Walter brings a unique perspective shaped by both personal experience and professional dedication. His passion for helping others began with his own journey. He has personal recovery experience, and in 2005, he tragically lost his wife of 11 years to an overdose. These profound experiences instilled in him an unwavering commitment to supporting individuals and families affected by addiction.
Walter has worked in the recovery field since 2009. He began his professional journey as a full-time behavioral health associate while simultaneously earning his bachelor’s degree in social work from East Stroudsburg University, graduating summa cum laude with a certificate in crisis intervention. He went on to earn a master’s degree in social work from Marywood University in 2022. Throughout his academic career, Walter held leadership positions including treasurer of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and president pf Phi Alpha Honor Society for social work.
He is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers and International Association of Social Work with Groups.
In addition to owning a private practice, Walter served as the Facility Director at Mountain’s Edge Recovery Center. He has also worked at Watergap Wellness, a Partial-Hospitalization Program for individuals with moderate to severe mental health disorders. There, he deepened his understanding of the complexities of mental health and learned to separate the behaviors associated with mental illness from the core identity of the person who suffers. Walter believes that everyone has the inherent ability to overcome the challenges that life presents. He sees it as his life’s purpose to guide clients toward their own version of fulfillment and to show them that healing is not only possible, but attainable.
